The Driver · The Coach

From the seat
to the stopwatch.

I won the Türkiye Şampiyonası four times. It started in 2007 with Petrol Ofisi's PO 25 Küçük Adam Projesi — the national junior championship I finished in 1st. Over the next five years three more titles followed across three age categories: Mini in 2009, KF3 in 2011, and Rotax Max Senior in 2012. A 2.'si finish in KF3 in 2010 sits alongside those wins on a career that defined how I read a circuit.

From 2019 to 2021 I raced for Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport's E-Sport team, reaching the PRO Final of the SRO GT E-Sport Series at Monza in 2019. The discipline of sim racing — repetition, data, mental focus under pressure — became a parallel craft that informs everything I now teach.

In 2025 I completed Applied Sport Psychology · Mental Skills Training under Keith Begley. The work I absorbed as a competitor I now structure as a coach. Two drivers are in active development under me: Oğuz Marangoz in national karting and Kaan Marangoz in AVIS TPS circuit racing.

The coaching method is sim-first, data-driven, human-centred. Simulator builds the mental map; data validates the lap; mental reset protocols protect the human under pressure. The pattern that produced 4 Turkish titles is now structured as a programme. The principle remains the same: there is no shortcut to repeatability — only the work that compounds, lap after lap, session after session.

Championship Stories

2007 · Türkiye 1.

The Beginning

PO 25 Küçük Adam Projesi was Petrol Ofisi's national junior discovery championship — a search for the next generation of Turkish racing talent. I entered as an 11-year-old, raced 7 rounds, and finished the season as Türkiye 1. with 268 points. The win opened doors I had no idea existed: TV cameras, full-page press coverage, the conviction that this was a craft worth dedicating a childhood to.

2009 · Mini (7-12) · Türkiye 1.

First National Title

Two years after PO25, the Türkiye Karting Şampiyonası · Mini kategorisi. A season-long championship in the 7-12 age group with 6-8 drivers per race weekend, fought across the country's best circuits. Winning here meant translating the raw speed of the discovery project into something repeatable — qualifying consistency, race craft, the discipline to bring the kart home in races where the obvious move was a risk.

2010 → 2011 · KF3 (13-16)

Setback. Comeback.

Moving up to KF3 — a faster category, bigger karts, older drivers. The first season ended Türkiye 2. — a vice-championship that taught me how thin the margin is between 1st and 2nd. The next year I came back, applied every lesson the setback delivered, and won Türkiye 1. in KF3.

That two-year arc is the one I lean on most as a coach today. Wins teach you what works. Second place teaches you everything else.

2012 · Rotax Max Senior (16+) · Türkiye 1.

The Apex

Rotax Max Senior — Turkey's premier karting class for adults. The end of five years climbing through age categories and the start of a different kind of competition: against drivers who had been racing in the senior class for years. Winning the Türkiye Karting Şampiyonası here completed the trilogy across Mini, KF3, and Senior — three age groups, three national titles.

Borusan E-Sport · 2019-2021

From real karts to virtual GT cars. Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport opened the next chapter in 2019 — a national driver selection programme, training events at the BOM HQ, and competition in the SRO GT E-Sport Series. Three seasons (2019, 2020, 2021) on the BOM sim team. Different surface, same craft: repetition, data, mental focus under pressure.

2019 · Phase 01

Driver Selection

A nationwide selection process to assemble BOM's first competitive sim roster. Qualifying laps, race simulations, and a final assessment day at the team HQ. The path back into competition started here — earned, not invited.

2019 · Phase 02

BOM Track · Team Day

Team training event with Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport — sim rigs, briefings, on-track sessions. The selected sim drivers, the engineers, the race coaches in one room. Calibration between virtual lap times and the real car's behaviour started here.

2019 · Phase 03 · Finalist

SRO GT E-Sport · Monza

The SRO GT E-Sport Series · PRO category — international competition, GT3 cars, full broadcast production. Qualified through to the PRO Final at Monza, racing against drivers from across Europe. Finalist of the inaugural season.

Formula 3 · Test · November 2025

A Formula 3 single-seater test — the largest single opportunity of the year. Open-wheel cars load differently than karts under brake, rotate harder on entry, reward precision the kart never demanded. Preparation built in the simulator, the test day itself a focused study of how the car teaches the driver. Onboard data recorded for post-session review.

Preparation · Simulator Work

Hours before the first real lap.

Brake references, corner sequences, gear-shift rhythm — all built in the simulator first. The first lap in the real car was meant as a confirmation, not a discovery. The preparation is the work that decides the test.

Onboard · Data Telemetry

Reading the Data

The onboard carries the full telemetry overlay — speed, throttle, brake, gear, steering trace. Watching this back is half the lesson: where the brake was lifted too soon, where throttle could have come on a metre earlier, where the corner geometry was misread. Data turns a single lap into a teacher.

Full telemetry overlay — speed, throttle, brake, gear, steering trace. The lap is half the lesson; the readout is the other half.

Fail, Learn

The mistake kept on tape.

One moment of misjudgement — the kind every driver collects. It stays here because the lesson from the error is what carries forward into the next session, and into the way I coach. Reviewing the failure on tape, calmly and in detail, is where the real work happens.

Coaching

With Oğuz Marangoz · BOM Karting · session debrief.

Method

Sim-first, data-driven, human-centred.

Every driver I work with starts in simulation — Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, real-car sim for circuit and drift. Sim is not a substitute for the real car; it is the fastest and safest way to build the mental map and the procedural habits that transfer directly to the track. From there: technique, tyre setup, data reading, mental reset protocols, race strategy. Sessions are logged and tracked across SA rating, lap-time progression, and qualitative session notes.

01 · PILLAR

Sim-First Foundation

ACC, iRacing, real-car sim. Build the mental map before the first real lap. Track knowledge, racecraft, and procedural memory acquired in a no-cost-of-mistake environment.

02 · PILLAR

Data-Driven Validation

Every session logged. Lap-time progression, SA rating, sector deltas, throttle/brake traces. Coaching decisions are anchored to data — not intuition alone.

03 · PILLAR

Mental Skills

Reset protocols, focus rituals, pre-race routine. Trained under Keith Begley's Applied Sport Psychology programme. The fast lap is half mechanical, half mental.

04 · PILLAR

Tyre, Setup, Strategy

Compound choice, pressure windows, balance trade-offs. Race strategy under different rule sets — TPS, national karting, sim leagues. The work that decides Sundays.

2025 · Certified
Applied Sport Psychology

Mental Skills Training graduate under Keith Begley — Performance Psychology Consultant. Training covered attentional control, anxiety regulation under racing pressure, recovery routines after errors, and pre-race ritual design. The mental side of racing was always present in the seat; now it is structured in the coaching.

Students · Active Development

Two drivers, two disciplines, one method.

Oğuz Marangoz races national karting in the BOM (Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport) team — three seasons of national championship competition. Kaan Marangoz races the AVIS Türkiye Pist Şampiyonası with MAK Motorsports in an Opel Corsa #45 — P2 podium at İstanbul Park in the 2025 season opener.

Both came in with raw speed. The work is structure: turning instinct into a process that survives qualifying pressure, race-start chaos, and the long Sunday.

Past Students · Programme Alumni

Drivers who completed the programme.

Demirhan Kemal Öke worked across drift, karting, and sim through 2023. Alihan Öke ran a Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder in track-day setup work through 2024. Both came in for a defined arc, both moved on once the programme objectives were met.
